There are many people over the world that build and develop sites for various reasons and they try to get the most out of their experience. The web offers many more opportunities than any other environment you can turn to, but you have to use the proper tools and techniques you have at hand since a wrong approach can lead your site to disaster.
Once you build a site, you have to move on to the next step. Search engine optimization is the most important stage of the process and it requires an ongoing effort if you really want to see the results you are after. There are a few options you can turn to when you want to get the job done, but one of the most important things is to see real results.
No matter what techniques you use to build your reputation, there comes a time when you need to find out what you need to do so you can perform better. Here are a few tests you can run on your site, but you will also learn about a few principles you need to stick to. Let’s start with the latter so you can have an idea about how you can get it done.
The tests should be repeated
The tests you want to submit your site to should always focus on control groups. This means you have to use a few pages with a certain change and a few other pages with similar content without the change. If the rankings of both groups will rise, the change is not significant, but if only the one with the change will rise, it is a very good action.
The tests you want to submit your site to should also be repeated on many other pages. If a group of pages has seen an improvement, you should do the same thing on other pages. If you see a similar or a better rise in rankings a few more times after the changes have been made, you can rest assured this is the best path you should be on.
There are other parts of the tests apart from the rankings that you should consider. The experience of the users on your site is very important and how they perform as well, but you have to look at the traffic sources rate. If both of these things are going to stay the same or if they will improve, this means your actions are the best you can use.
Making the titles on your site more narrative is one of the first tests. Removing or adding links or blocks of links is another option you can use. Social media is also important and adding or removing buttons for comments and other things is very important. Descriptive content, videos, and images can also show you some results.
Each of these tests can help you get better rankings, but they can also decrease them. If you want to learn more about these tests and how you apply them to your site, you should visit the Moz Blog for a fully detailed description.
