After five whole months, the latest product reviews update is here. The last one was implemented in September 2022. Such a long period should give you an idea about how much work has to be done and how important this project is. This update also took a lot to be implemented. It took over two weeks, from the last part of February to the beginning of March.
Google strives to improve the results they provide to users for all their keywords, and this category was one of the less updated in the past, but not anymore! In recent years, Google paid a lot more attention to the reviews category and strived to improve the quality of the results found in SERPs.

Google can finally tackle this category of keywords and SERPs for other languages besides English. All other updates made for this category of keywords were focused on the English language. Even though this improved the situation for most searches, all the inquiries made in other languages didn’t benefit from the improvements brought by this product reviews update.
Such a massive company as Google won’t leave such a hole in its services. For this reason, they spend the time and effort to create all the required improvements for product reviews SERPs for searches made in other languages. Right now, all the inquiries made in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Russian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Polish are covered by this update.
After this update, all inquiries about reviews made in the languages mentioned above will look for the highest quality results based on much stricter criteria. The goal is to provide users with more and better information about the products they need. As for the websites or pages that provide low-quality product reviews, they can expect a massive drop in their ranks.

The product review updates in the past had a relatively low impact. It was standard because they only affected English queries. Generally, the quality of global SERPs, primarily in this language, is higher, and the impact of Google updates is mostly mild.
On the other hand, this update covered a much broader set of SERPs, many of which have a much lower quality than the ones mentioned above. As a result, the volatility detected by all the dedicated online tools was massive. This means that many websites specialized in product reviews were either penalized and lost many ranks, or they got a boost and got much closer to the top results.
If your website specializes in this category, consider this update when planning your SEO strategy. The measures you must implement depend on how your website is affected. If you got a big boost in ranks, you already do some things right, and you can go on while optimizing your strategy to improve your content.
What about sites that took a big hit from this update? You need to rewrite and replace all the reviews you posted on the website. Your best choice is to look for a reliable SEO agency like GAMIT that provides top-quality content to help your business recover from the penalties in the shortest period.
