Finally, after half a year, a new core update was implemented by Google. Usually, those updates are introduced with a frequency of three to four months. It was unexpected that it took so long for a new one to be implemented this time.

Every core update is different. The algorithm change that decides the ranks in SERPs differs every time. What about the changes made in this update? We do not know the exact changes an update makes. We can infer them based on the results instead.
This time, the update improved the promotion made for e-commerce. If you have an online shop or sell things online, you will have more success because of this update. Like any other change, when some industries benefit, others will experience some damage.
Websites dealing with information as their primary business registered losses because of this update. Even if your site falls into this category, rest assured that you can still recuperate. You can adapt your strategy and recoup your losses in the future.

The first five days of the update were the worst. Incredible volatility was detected during this period, with the highest peak on the 27th. After the highest volatility, things seemed to calm down. Many thought the worst part was over and everything would calm down in a few days.
Things didn’t happen as it was expected this time. The volatility continued for ten more days. Even though the chaos didn’t reach another peak again, it was a period where no one knew what to do. Waiting was all that anyone could do during such periods.
Finally, after more than two weeks, everything calmed down. Changes are still happening, but things are now more visible, and SEO professionals can start dealing with the changes. It would be best if you also considered what’s to be done in the future.
Remember that this is only the first core update in 2022. After a few months, you can expect at least one more. In the following years, similar updates will continue to roll out. As a result, it’s critical for you, as a webmaster, to know what you or the SEO experts you work with must do at such times.
In the short period, you may be unable to avoid losses if the updates are focused against your industry. Luckily, in the long term, there are some things you can do. First, you must ensure that your SEO strategy and methods follow Google’s guidelines.
The second piece of advice you should consider is strategy personalization and adaptation. When you start a new SEO project for your site, you will need a personalized plan that must be regularly updated at a frequency of three to six months. You must also update the strategy after significant updates like this one.
