Go Daddy SEO Image
GoDaddy is one of the world’s largest Internet domain registers, providing a large suite of services to both private individuals and businesses that want to expand their digital presence and register a custom domain, linked to their services. GoDaddy provides web hosting at prices that are in line or even bellow the market average. It allows users to buy their own domain name, provides a drag-and-drop website builder tool that’s as functional as Squarespace, and it also features built-in e-commerce and marketing tools that can be utilized for long-term digital marketing approaches.

What is GoDaddy SEO? In a nutshell, it is a built-in search engine optimization tool, built directly in GoDaddy’s website builder suite, that provides automated, basic SEO optimization for registered domains. What can you do with it? For one thing, you can receive suggestions of short or long-tailed keywords based on business type. Secondly, GoDaddy SEO can be used to fix on-page elements such as meta descriptions or headings, handle technical SEO fundamentals, and track rankings for a limited number of keywords.
GoDaddy is primarily a platform for domain registration and web hosting, and therefore, the SEO suite it offers cannot exactly be used for in-depth content creation strategies, advanced technical search engine optimization approaches, or to fix problems like keyword cannibalization. That said, for all intents and purposes, it can be a good first step in the development of a proper SEO strategy.
What Are GoDaddy’s Built-In SEO Tools?
Although limited, GoDaddy SEO offers a couple of built-in tools that can be useful in a low-stakes, ethical SEO strategy that’s more focused on short-term results. What are these tools? Perhaps the first one is that you can set the <title> HTML tag and the meta-description of the pages directly from the SEO settings subsection available on the GoDaddy website. At the same time, for the majority of pages, you can set custom URLs, while it’s also possible to add alt text to certain images, which can help search engine crawlers better understand the topical relevancy of the indexable content.

GoDaddy SEO can automatically generate the XML sitemap required for the proper indexation of your pages, it automatically handles your robots.txt files, and it provides templates that can be utilized to make your website more in line with Google’s mobile-first indexation strategy. Plus, the SEO section of the GoDaddy website is filled with suggestions and tips for novice digital marketers, while the global site SEO settings can be utilized to implement site-wide metadata, which can be useful for large-scale SEO approaches.
That said, although it features built-in tools, no GoDaddy SEO review will be complete without also mentioning their limitations. As things stand, GoDaddy SEO doesn’t provide support for advanced metadata control, like the introduction of custom robots.txt directives, nor does it allow in-depth control over the site’s backend infrastructure. You don’t get the same access level for server settings as is the case with professional SEO tools such as Ahrefs, and the provided templates are a bit inflexible, which is an issue for in-depth SEO approaches.
How Does GoDaddy SEO Work Behind the Scenes?
GoDaddy SEO tools Illustrative
It’s quite interesting. GoDaddy utilizes a proprietary content management system that is not editable at the code level. Therefore, the SEO modifications implemented via the site’s SEO platform are simply injected, not manually coded, which somewhat restricts their versatility. At the same time, the SEO operations are restricted to a templating engine. When you utilize GoDaddy SEO to modify HTML elements like the <title> tag, the SEO builder tool injects the values that interest you in the template, while also giving it placeholders.
So, you don’t edit the HTML. The JSON structure that contains your SEO input is injected into the template, and the static HTML is generated directly on GoDaddy’s proprietary content delivery network. So, the system rewrites the metadata before the output is complete. You therefore do not have control over the canonicals, and the XML sitemap is automatically generated. That typically is alright for small websites. However, GoDaddy does not generate sitemap indexes for large websites, like, for example, those involved in e-commerce, nor does it do so for images and videos.
With GoDaddy, you cannot manually edit your robots.txt files, and the assets you publish are inserted directly into their CDN. There is limited support for schema markup, no manual schema edition, and many schema options are missing. TL; DR: In most cases, utilizing the services of an SEO specialist like us, who can manually edit the site’s backend code and implement a comprehensive SEO audit before starting the optimization work, will be a better idea. So, is GoDaddy SEO worth it? Depends on the case. If you are the owner of a small website and you want to implement a basic SEO framework, GoDaddy can be what you need. But for in-depth work, you’re better off with SEO professionals.
What You Actually Get vs. What Is Promised
Basic vs Professional SEO Service Comparison
For one thing, GoDaddy’s marketing materials promise that you will automatically rank higher in Google. While high-quality SEO approaches can help you structure your pages and impact your SERP rankings, in reality, no built-in SEO toolkit can realistically guarantee SERP enhancements, even more so when GoDaddy only handles basic on-page and backend modifications, limited by their templates implementation. Google ranks websites based primarily on content quality, site authority, and in-depth technical SEO considerations. Sure, GoDaddy SEO can help. But it’s not a guaranteed SERP boost.

GoDaddy SEO vs Professional SEO
A second promise is that your website will be optimized for mobile indexation. While the templates provided by GoDaddy are responsive for mobile devices, they are not as efficient as manual SEO approaches, in which CLS issues are systematically covered. GoDaddy minifies CSS requests and automatically compresses images, but you can’t use its SEO suite in order to fix the performance bottleneck. That is a problem, and with an SEO company like us, you could cover more ground.
Last but not least, one promise is that GoDaddy is the most cost-effective SEO solution on the market. While it’s true that in many cases, the built-in SEO templates provided by GoDaddy SEO are more wallet-friendly than leveraging the services of an SEO agency that can provide you with a search engine ranking report, the prices for GoDaddy SEO aren’t exactly what we can call cheap. How much does GoDaddy SEO cost? It depends on what service you go for. Their managed SEO services can, according to past customers, cost around $50 per hour. That’s not bad, but the services you get in return are more limited than you can expect from a specialized SEO agency.

What Are Some Key Features of GoDaddy SEO?
Account Manager & Communication:
When you first sign up for GoDaddy SEO, you are assigned an account manager, who will handle periodic reviews of your site’s SEO status, update you regularly about the SEO modifications happening on your website and also provide recommendations about backend or on-page elements that should be changed. GoDaddy’s SEO team will review your rankings on a regular basis, and you will also have access to the reports that interest you directly in the platform’s SEO dashboard. Speaking of dashboard:
SEO Dashboard:
SEO Dashboard
When your SEO account manager is not available, you can access your account dashboard in order to verify your site’s SERP position and determine which modifications should be prioritized in the future. With the SEO dashboard, you can track rankings for specific keywords, get an understanding of your page’s specific traffic gains, and be updated about the overall progress made by the SEO specialists with whom you collaborate. This dashboard is updated in real-time. However, it will not be as in-depth as the metrics provided by specialized tools such as SEMrush.
Keyword Analysis:
73% of all purchases start with an online search, and for this reason, targeting specific queries has transformed into a necessity for the vast majority of market-focused digitally-present companies. The vast majority of your site’s visibility and CTRs will be tied to how well you can identify those keywords with increased relevance for the interests of your core audiences. GoDaddy’s managed SEO services can be utilized to research keywords based on location, type, or the products you want to target. That said, our proper SEO services will be better suited, as they are more in-depth.
What Are the Pros and Cons of GoDaddy SEO?
Let’s start with the pros. GoDaddy tends to be cheaper than most SEO services provided by professional digital marketing agencies, so it is technically a good starting point for small companies that are looking to invest in basic digital optimization work. Granted, in the end, you get what you pay for, but because GoDaddy handles both hosting and domain registration while providing a custom site builder. So, you technically get all the services you require in order to boost your digital presence from zero to one hundred. Is GoDaddy SEO worth it? It depends.
Pros and cons of GoDaddy
Boasting a user-friendly interface and offering templates optimized for mobile indexation, GoDaddy is a good way to handle basic SEO procedures without actually needing to be knowledgeable about the SEO space. Plus, their managed SEO services can allow you to go hands-off and concentrate your attention on the other departments of your venture that require your direct expertise. There are, however, some downsides as well.
GoDaddy is not exactly the right tool for minimizing the impact of core algorithm updates or for modifying the in-depth background elements that contribute to your site’s indexation. Advanced technical SEO services, like the implementation of schema markup or page speed optimization, are lacking at best, and the scalability of the services provided by GoDaddy doesn’t translate well if you’re a large company or if your website is undergoing rapid expansion. Is GoDaddy SEO worth it? Yes, if you are a small business. But, for large enterprises, the full-scale bespoke solutions of our SEO services company are a better fit.

Who Should Use GoDaddy SEO
What SEO Services Can We Provide That Are Unrealistic for GoDaddy SEO?
Where to even start? Our agents can conduct a full audit of your site’s backend data, during which we can identify XML sitemaps issues, verify GSC for manual actions taken against your website, find crawl errors, and note the presence of broken internal links. Unlike with GoDaddy SEO, we can implement product and FAQ schema in the HTML of your pages via JSON-LD, which technically improves your chances of appearing in Rich Snippets.
Plus, we can correct canonicalization for multilingual websites by leveraging the “Hreflang” tag, optimize your content for the E-E-A-T framework, ensure you are following the CWVs and improve your site’s loading speed by performing advanced site architectural planning. In other words, we can provide you with everything GoDaddy SEO promises, but we will do it better and with more attention to detail. Our team will implement a content creation strategy that takes advantage of the keywords uncovered during the SEO audit. We will group these keywords in semantic clusters, which can help with AI overviews, and not least, we will search for link-building opportunities with websites relevant to the interests of your core audience.
